The Van Sciver Butterfly Garden Mosaic, 2010, Hand-crafted ceramic pieces, bas-relief animals and mirror glass. 8' x 8' exterior wall. The mosaic is situated between the Learning Center Kindergarten ahd Pre-K classroom doors near the side entrance where the buses pull up to drop off the students. It is directly across from the Van Sciver Butterfly Garden, so elements of a garden were included in the design. This project was completed in four weeks in the summer. Students in the fifth grade and in the Middle School were invited to participate in the workshop and it included a field trip to Isaiah Zagar's Mosaic Garden in Philadelphia.
Interior Mosaic and Mosaic Steppingstones, 2003-2005, Recycled Tile and Small Tiles. Both of these projects involved groups of students designing and making the mosaics. The inside mural was created in the after care program with student volunteers. The steppingstones were created by fifth grade students during and outside of art class time.
